Radiolokační výškoměr PRV-17 zjišťuje výšku letu cílů (ve spolupráci s přehledovým radiolokátorem). Slouží k radiolokačnímu průzkumu nízko letících cílů v režimu dálkoměr, k určení azimutu a polohového úhlu aktivního rušiče, ke zjišťování jaderných výbuchů a udávání souřadnic cílů pro aktivní prostředky (stíhacího letectva a protiletadlového raketového vojska).
PRV-17 Radar Height Finder detects the altitude of flying objects (in cooperation with the surveillance radar). It is used for radar surveillance of low flying objects in the distance determination mode, for determination of the azimuth and elevation angle of an active jammer, for detection of nuclear explosions, and for reporting of object coordinates to active assets (fighters and SBAD).
